I’m Kelsey. But somewhere along the way ‘Keefy’ stuck.
MAMA before all. Grower. Writer. Nature lover. Homemaker. Multi-business owner. Creative. Homestead dreamer. Community seeker. Professional rabbit-hole explorer.
I’m the human behind Budfolk, but it was never really supposed to be about me.
It grew from a whole bunch of different pieces of my life that just kept finding their way back.
Cannabis. Plants. Dirt under my nails. Writing. Creating. Learning. Sharing. Growing my own medicine. Growing my own food. Being outside. Questioning everything. Camping. Festivals. Finding holistic ways to live, heal, create and exist.
And somewhere in all of that, I fell in love with the people. The community.
I didn’t come from the industry.
I come from homegrown.
I come from experimenting.
I didn’t start growing cannabis until 2019 and had to learn the way a lot of us did. By just doing it. Fucking things up. Doing research. Watching videos. Reading whatever I could get my hands on. Killing plants. Growing better ones. Trying again, and again.
I wasn’t blessed with generational knowledge or teachings. I didn’t have someone showing me the ropes or passing down years of knowledge. I had to go looking for it.
Eventually that lead me to Cannavision Institute, where I earned my Associate’s degree in Cannabis Studies along with certificates in Horticulture/Cultivation as well as Processing/Extracting.
But getting an education didn’t replace the knowledge I found in the culture; it made me respect it even more.
Some of the most valuable things I know about this plant didn’t come from a classroom.
They came from growers, who’ve spent years with their hands in the dirt.
Patients who fought for their medicine.
Breeders who preserve genetics.
Advocates who speak out.
Ol’ heads willing to share.
People experimenting in their basements.
… And that’s a huge part of WHY Budfolk exists.
So… what IS Budfolk?
It started as my little corner of the internet to talk about cannabis.
Then it grew.
Because the deeper I got, the more I realized how easy it is for the actual culture and lifestyle of cannabis to get lost in the new found industry.
I saw how the stigma is still surrounding us even with legalization happening everywhere.
I don’t want that.
Budfolk is my attempt to keep a little piece of the culture rooted and strong.
A place for all people with one thing in common.
The moms.
The homegrower.
The artist.
The patient.
The beginner.
The pro.
The ol’ head.
The modern.
THE FOLK.
And outside of weed? I am still figuring life out like everybody else.
I’m raising 4 little humans while dreaming and working toward land, gardens, community, slow mornings, muddy feet and a life that feels a little less disconnected from Mother Earth.
I’ll disappear down a rabbit-hole for hours.
I’ll stop and look at a plant on the side of a trail.
I’ll collect pretty rocks.
I’m forever starting up something new before I’ve finished the last thing.
Like building an entire cannabis culture platform.
So here we are.
I’m Keefy.
This is Budfolk.
One plant. One Passion. One People.
